Finca El Ruiseñor (Nightingale Farm) is situated in the tiny hamlet of Las Quintas de Algar, between the pretty Andalusian white towns of Vejer de la Frontera and Medina Sidonia. The house faces south with beautiful views towards Vejer. The total land area is about 1 hectare. The house is a reformed farmhouse of 98 square meters. It is totally off grid and has its own well and electricity via solar panels. The house consists of a kitchen/breakfast room, a sitting/dining room, one double bedroom and a bathroom along with a utility room. All the rooms are light and airy. The roof is well insulated and the old walls are thick, keeping the house cool in summer and warm in winter. It has a fantastic terrace with views towards Vejer and Africa in the far distance.
There is a second house on the deeds and land which is a ruin and could be rebuilt. There is an agricultural barn of 100 square meters used as stabling and for storage. The land is currently used for horses. It could also become a permaculture self-sufficient holding, or just a superb holiday home.
The location is on the edge of a very small settlement about 15 km from the fantastic beaches of the Costa de la Luz. Vejer de la Frontera, voted one of Spain´s prettiest towns, is 12 km´s away. Medina Sidonia, a gem of a town is about 10 km away. There are local services, such as a doctor, pharmacy, filling station and a village shop in the nearby village of Cantarranas. And if you walk up the quiet path onto the hill behind the house in spring you will hear the nightingales singing. The area is rich in bird life, especially during migration.
